laptop comparison to run games?
i have intel gma 4500m hd and intel celeron dual core t3000, 1.8GHZ.
while my friends notebook has geforce 9300m gs and core2du p7350 which's 2.0ghz. i heard there are not so much difference between geforce 9300m gs and gma 4500mhd. but i can hardly play assassin's creed or devil may cry4 even with 3d analyzer while my friend's computer runs quite well without any trouble or 3d analyzer.
my computer has XP and 3gb of ram and friend's computer has VISTA with 2gb of ram.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html this site shows that p7350 ranks 61th and my T3000 ranks 97.
could it be because of the difference of the CPUs?
because from what i heard, there arent much difference between geforce 9300m gs and gma 4500mhd
if i upgrade my cpu, will i be able to do more things with my notebook?

Desktop to laptop comparison ... advice requested.?
I have a desktop computer that I've been using for a few years, and it suits my needs for the most part. Recently, we went on a road trip and bought an inexpensive laptop to take with us so we could keep up on email, etc. Now that we're home again, I'm considering making the laptop my main computer because I fell in love with its portability.
However ...
I'm not sure which computer is better. What do I need to look at for a fair comparison? I'd hate to move all my files (a massive amount of data) just to find out that the old computer was better suited to the kind of work I use it for. I'm hoping that the laptop can handle it because it's brand new and the desktop is several years old. Back then, it was top of the line, but as we all know, as soon as you take a computer out of the box it's obsolete.

I use it primarily for writing, web design, graphic design, audio recording, some video editing. Regularly used programs are Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, FrontPage), PhotoShop, Adobe Premier.
